Jacob's Well is a 15th-century timber-framed house now acting as the church room for Holy Trinity Micklegate Church. It was built around 1474 by an alderman of York as a residence for a chantry priest. It later served as an inn and a residence. Look for the beautifully-carved Jacobean entrance on Trinity Lane.

King's Manor began as the 11th-century residence of the abbot of St Mary's Abbey in York. After the abbey was suppressed by Henry VIII it became the headquarters of the Council of the North and welcomed at least three reigning monarchs including Henry VIII, James I, and Charles I.

Lady Peckett's Yard is a passage linking Pavement and Fossgate, formed from two medieval alleys at right angles. It is named for Alice Peckett, the wife of a Lord Mayor of York in 1701. The entrance on Pavement runs beside the timber-framed birthplace of Sir Thomas Herbert (1606).

A brick-built 18th-century merchant's house on High Street in Hull. The house is a living reminder of Hull's prosperity as a centre of shipping and commerce during the Georgian period. The building is currently used as offices, so only the grand plasterwork front hall and staircase can be viewed.

A lovely 14th-century gatehouse on the banks of the River Ure is all that remains of the fortified manor house of Tanfield Castle. The exact location of the manor is not known, but generations of its owners lie buried in the neighbouring parish church, where their monuments can be seen.

The Merchant Adventurers' Hall is sadly overlooked by many visitors to York. Let's rectify that! The Hall is a superb medieval building, one of the best-preserved examples of a medieval guildhall in England. The Hall was begun in 1357 and remains largely unaltered. The Hall undercroft served as a local hospital until 1900.

The Merchant Taylors' Hall was begun in 1415 and completed in the 15th century for the Company of Merchant Taylors. Beside the Hall is a 1730 almshouse. The Hall boasts a superb medieval timber roof and the earliest known work by stained glass artist Henry Gyles, dated 1662.
