Lovely hideaway
From the front this cottage looks rather compact, but once you open the door all the rooms are surprisingly spacious. Nice comfy lounge with a toasty woodburner for the cooler evenings, dining area and kitchen had all we needed for our time indoors. The master bedroom was more than roomy enough for us and tastefully furnished, there was only the two of us so the second bedroom acted as our temporary store room, a good size for a couple of children. The cottage is well placed down a small quiet lane, everybody we bumped into on our walkabouts were cheery and friendly. Peter and Fiona were good hosts, the food starter package along with a bottle of wine they supplied meant we didn't have to rush off to the shops as soon as we arrived, a nice touch. The cottage served as a good base, a few nice local walks, a decent local close by and easy to drive out to other sights. An all round nice place to stay.

A wonderful stay at this lovely cottage.
This is a beautiful cosy cottage tucked away in a quiet lane near the centre of the small market town of Sturminster. It was extremely comfortable, clean and pretty, with everything in it that we needed. The owners, Peter and Fiona provided us with some lovely treats on arrival, a cream tea with very tasty scones, plus ample breakfast provisions that lasted us the week. They had even left a bottle of wine which was very thoughtful and very welcome! Thank you. Peter showed us around on arrival which was very helpful, a nice friendly man who made you feel welcome. Sturminster is a short drive from some local places including Kingston Lacy House and Shaftesbury, both are worth a visit. Also the coast, Kimmeridge and Lyme Regis are not too far away. This is one of the better cottages that we have stayed in (including National Trust) and we will be returning. It provided us with a homely base to return to each day. We loved staying there, it was perfect for us.

Perfect Holiday Home
Cottage was beautiful, tastefully decorated , warm and inviting as was peter (owner) who gave us welcoming tour. The cottage contained everything we needed . It was in pristine condition, spacious yet cosy, old world with all modern conveniences, Power shower amazing Welcome pack was so much more than expected and great not to have to immediately look for shop for milk etc on first cold night. Cottage located very close to village shops, pubs, cafes etc and ideal for touring beautiful Dorset area. Bring walking boots or bikes :) to see best parts . The only draw back is no designated car parking space . One night i had to leave car in public carpark, within walking distance but as it was a hired car i was anxious. .

perfect place to relax and go walking and sightsee Dorset
Really enjoyed the comfort of the cottage. Location perfect. The Dorset Trailway is very close. Welcome pack simply great.

Lovley Stay
We enjoyed staying at Orcadia Cottage so much we decided to extend our stay for an extra day to take advantage of the weather. he owners Peter and Fiona left us a generous welcome pack which was the best we have experienced on our travels. We are walkers and enjoyed the variety of walks available in the area, one of the best was a trip to Stourhead where we walked to King Alfred's Tower. We called in at the Fiddleford Inn whilst out walking, the reception was very frosty, suggest you try The Bull along the road where we made to feel very welcome. We hope to return here some time in the future.
