DEFINITELY NOT SELF CATERING
On first impressions the cottage was in a lovely location and looked clean throughout, but on inspection of the cooker it was disgusting and no way had it been cleaned this year. Also the toaster was going rusty, so we only had the microwave to use and had to eat out every evening which obviously cost us more than expected. The people staying at the Weir cottage next door also had a filthy cooker and they too had to eat out. I spoke to the owner who said that he would come and look on the Monday but never came. There were other minor problems which we overcame. You need to bring everything as no supplies at all only some washing up liquid which may have been from the previous visitor, so you need toilet rolls, dishwater tablets, washing powder if needed. I have never stayed in any other accommodation where there hasn't been a few things to get you started. It's such a shame as the cottage is in a prime location with lots of eating places and easy access to buses and nearby towns.

Fab cottage in a great setting
Best cottage we?ve rented in a while, has everything you could want. In a lovely village with several eateries/pubs/shops. Very central for touring Derbyshire. Added attraction of ducks and swans to feed and the sound of the nearby weir to send you to sleep.

Picturesque and peaceful
Smithy Cottage is a well appointed, very cosy cottage situated by Cromford pond. All main appliances in the kitchen are integrated and there is a washer/dryer, fridge and separate freezer. There is only one television in the property, but with WiFi being there, plus plenty of books, games and DVD's provided too, there will be enough to keep everyone entertained, and of course, you can always take your own. Delightfully there are 3 toilets, always a plus in my book! Cromford is a lovely village, it has virtually everything you need within a stones throw from the door, from a hairdresser to a book shop, from a beauty therapist to a chocolatier! We, as a family, ate in The Boat, 4 nights out of 7. Thursday is Quiz night, and it is definitely worth a look. Masson Mill is only a 5 minute walk from Smithy Cottage. If you enjoy Bargain Hunt/Flog It, then James Lewis (Bamfords) has a place at Rowsley and Charles Hanson (Hansons) has a place near Mickleover.

Lovely cottage in an amazing setting
Really enjoyed our week in this well appointed cottage, nicely furnished, and kitchen was very well equipped with everything you could want. Fridge ,freezer, dishwasher and a downstairs loo. Would have loved a hairdryer and one bathroom had large bath towels the other had small ones !!!! Wifi was provided and the view from all windows was of the mill pond with it's resident swans and 6 hungry cygnets . The parking was a bit of a challenge as we had two cars but we managed without too much hassle.

Smithy Cottage on the Mill Pond was excellent, with a beautiful outlook over the lake. Cromford was also an excellent base for visiting the area with a good range of shops and eateries. We also had a cheeky swan that visited, pecking on the patio door for food!! A lovely and enjoyable stay and would recommend to everyone.
