HERITAGE HIGHLIGHTS: Birthplace of Bishop William Morgan
Ty Mawr Wybrnant

Ty Mawr Wybrnant is a farm dwelling where Bishop William Morgan, the first translator of the Bible into Welsh, was born in 1545. The traditional farmhouse is built of stone and set in a fabulous remote countryside location in the Conwy valley. Pathways lead from the house through the surrounding woodland.
The house contains a collection of Bibles in almost 100 languages. Aside from its connection with Morgan, Ty Mawr Wybrnant is a good example of a simple Welsh farmhouse, sparsely furnished, with traditional wooden furnishings.
We had a wonderful tour of the house with an entertaining bi-lingual (English and Welsh) guide, who gave us an overview of Morgan's life and a glimpse into what it must have been like growing up in this remote and ruggedly beautiful location.
