One of five holiday homes on site, this cottage sleeps six people in the village of Ebberston in North Yorkshire.

Beech Cottage is set on a site with four other holiday cottages in the grounds of the owners' home in the village of Ebberston near to Pickering in North Yorkshire. The cottage sleeps six people and has one double bedroom, one twin room and a single room with an additional pull out bed as well as a family bathroom. The rest of the accommodation is made up of an open plan living area with a fitted kitchen, a dining area and a sitting area with an open fire. Outside the cottage is off road parking for two cars, a private courtyard with outdoor furniture, shared access to four acres of grounds and shared use of a games room and an indoor heated swimming pool. Set in a beautiful location and with fabulous facilities on site, Beech Cottage is a superb family holiday home on the edge of the North Yorks Moors National Park.

The owners were very accommodating, nothing was too much trouble and they were polite at all times. The children really enjoyed the pool - which was the main reason we chose the property.

hostile experience
We have just returned from a family Christmas holiday in which we occupied beech cottage and lilac cottage along with our 4 children aged 1 - 17 years and our friend and their 2 young boys. The surrounding area and the cottages, with the exception of the pubic hairs found on my eldest daughters clean bed sheets themselves where amazing, the pool and jacuzzi were a added bonus had there not been so many 'rules'. Upon our arrival we where shown around the cottage by Ian one of the owners, there was no 'welcome to the cottage' or 'enjoy your stay', I would describe the experience as being very formal with no room for polite, friendly conversation. This was the only time we had any interaction from Ian himself as the whole week we were ignored by the owners other than when we were purchasing damp fire wood at £4 a basket, not even a friendly 'merry Christmas' on Christmas day. There are ridged rules regarding the use of the pool with many posters indicating the 'correct' use of the facilities which included turning the lights off after use, which is understandable, however on our first evening we received a warning regarding not turning the lights off, we explained that there was another lady in the pool when we left, no apology was given! We had purchased a small fondue set to melt chocolates in on Christmas eve, again we received a warning for using a tea light, as this is 'strictly forbidden' we where rudely told by Ian wife. Then on the final day as we where about to leave the owners asked us to wait whilst checks where conducted in the cottages, again understandable, however we where then accused of spilling red wine on the carpet the size of a 50 pence piece when we do not drink red wine, my husband explained that it could have been black current cordial and could get the stain up if required, to which the owner refused and charged us a cleaning fee. After paying over £1000 for 2 cottages, in addition to over £40 worth of fire wood, £10 paying to play pool, £8 using the washer this was the straw that broke the camels back! Ebberston is a beautiful village and cliff house and the cottages are amazing but the owners rude and hostile attitude leaves much to be desired.

The swimming pool, games room and garden were excellent. Location outstanding. Overall I would recommend the cottages to friends and family.

Central to everything North Yorkshire
The stay in the cottage was fabulous. It was clean and had everything we needed.
Ebberston is a lovely village and it is easy to get to the Moors, Scarborough and other seaside resorts as well as a trip to York. The Pool was lovely and warm and just the thing on a wet afternoon.
We looked forward so much to our week away with our daughter who lives in UK. This was to be the highlight of our trip from Australia, and in many ways it was. It was a shame the owners were not a little more flexible with their views on how under 5s should be behave. They like to make a noise and run about outside. If you have boisterous children under 8 then somewhere else might be better. J Merritt Albany Western Australia

The cottage was in a good location for visiting the North Yorkshire area, good walking , pubs, and nearby Scarborough ,Pickering ,Malton and other small villages. The swimming pool was an extra bonus .
