Disapointing
First impressions not great, cigarette butts littering outside the front door. This place could be lovely, but is very tired and certainly not worth well over £500 that we paid for the week. The chairs in the lounge were unbelievably uncomfortable, and falling apart, so much so that we ended up using our camping chairs to sit on. Likewise with the bed, the mattress was all lumpy and bumpy and like sleeping on a slope. The smoke alarm went off everytime you had a shower, bathroom fan needs upgrading, I don't think the owners realise it is seriously dangerous to have an electrical switch in the bathroom when it is continually dripping in condensation, if water gets in the switch which it inevitably will, it will cause a shock. Blinds broken, curtains mucky, and decoration downstairs looks like it's been done by a clown with a blindfold, white paint on the stools and work surface. No washing up liquid. Toilet roll ran out and had to buy our own. Would have expected wifi for this price also.

LITTLE COMFORT AT NEGLECTED JUNIPER HAYLOFT IN GRASMERE
The open plan downstairs room has two skylight windows in the ceiling which on a hot sunny day turns it into a sauna and there is only one window you can open for any ventilation. If you open the only door that leads straight into this room because of the close proximity of all the dust bins placed right outside the property it quickly fills with lots of flies. This situation could easily be avoided by fitting skylight blinds and a fly screen to the door. This room also contains (please see all pictures as proof) two extremely uncomfortable and difficult to get out of low down bendy chairs the type you buy at IKEA or JYSK stores that really are unfit for purpose and need replacing with a cosy two seater sofa. A small television is provided not much bigger than a computer monitor and it has a very blurred picture and is in desperate need of replacement. Now on to the cooker if you attempt to fry any food the over sensitive smoke alarms both downstairs and upstairs go off in unison emitting an ear piercing high pitched sound. A door off this downstairs room leads into a window-less shower room with a toilet and wash basin and at time noises plumbing can be heard. Also the steam and heat from the shower sets off the smoke alarms. Leading up from this downstairs room the staircase leads straight into a door less room with a restricted height ceiling it has three windows but only one opens for any air. The double bed is the most uncomfortable bed ever slept on and an attempt has been made to cover this fact up by wrapping the mattress in a thin duvet to try and make it more comfortable but fails to do so. Outside the property there is no garden or seating area only a scruffy communal yard full of dust bins from other crammed in together holiday homes and one tight parking space right outside the downstairs room window so take care when parking up or you may end up going through the window from which there are no decent views as your right at the back of other buildings. Please be aware if you do decide to book Juniper Hateloft. In Grasmere to bring everything you will need along with you as next to nothing is provided including NO welcome pack and if the disgusting owners of Juniper Hayloft continue to take no action on mine and other people's reccommendations then be prepared for a very uncomfortable stay indeed. A good idea would be for the owners of this holiday home to spend sometime here to find out for themselves how awful and uncomfortable Juniper Hayloft really is and exactly what they are subjecting unsuspecting holiday makers to. After paying £577:00 for a weeks stay we had to leave after only three days as we could not stand spending any more time here due to what we have described in this factual review.. We feel left out of pocket and totally let down and cheated without any form of comeback or compensation. Please note we are not blaming Sykes Cottages for any of this as they can only do so much as the managers of this property. This is all down to the greedy owners lack of care and consideration towards others and our overall opinion is sub standard holiday accommodation and facilities charging top money.

The location of the cottage was great, close to the village and the mountains and hills. The views of the surrounding scenery were lovely. The cottage was warm and cosy and the kitchen and bathroom were very clean.

Great base for a couple keen on fell walking
This is in fact Juniper HAYLOFT (the cottage is next door). It is a one bedroom two level barn style conversion with great views and easy access to the fells but just five minutes from the village bus stop (we do not have a car). The facilities are modern and well maintained and benefit from good lighting and excellent heating so that it could be used out of season. Remember that the main light switch in the bedroom is on the other side of the room from the bed! There is no WIFI and mobile coverage is a tad sporadic

Lovely cosy accommodation for two (and a cocker spaniel). A fabulous base to explore the Lake District by foot.
