Amazing
Just returned from a trip here with a family of 10 including myself. I must say the cottage mansion () looks much better in real life than the photos show ?The Tardis? I said . The 2 bedrooms facing the road have stunning views. On the artic room was a large play cubby. It also had loads of books to read as well which was on a shelf on the way to the artic room. There was a hot tub which was awesome! The kitchen was huge and was the best room of the house which had a decommissioned antique Aga a lovely touch, it had new appliances and soft close drawers. It was a lovely gesture from the owner to offer a homemade chocolate cake, Bread and eggs. The 10 seater dinning room was in the conservatory so again it had lovely views. It had 2 lounges with flat screens each and connected Sky Q, we only used one for playing games. There was ample seating and very comfy antique chairs. The bedrooms were very big with exquisite antique furniture. There was a very large and modern bathroom with an island bath and a walk in shower and an afternoon lounger, however the shower upstairs had low pressure but the downstairs shower room was awesome which had a small kitchenette and washing machine which had more storage. Just before out the back door there's a coat rack and an under stair utility closet. We really loved the house and antique furniture. There was a front yard garden which the kids played footie and jumped around the bush. It had parking for about 6 to 8 cars if parked tight. You could also walk to the beach which was about less than 2 mile away, a pub in the village and a railway station as well . We all had a wonderful stay @ the Hickory House and we all enjoyed it! Highly recommended ?..

Relaxing Family week
I first visited Hickory House with my 3 Siblings and their partners for my Ruby Wedding in September 2019 and chose to come again to this lovely spacious 4 bedroomed house to celebrate my Son's 40th birthday with his sister, her partner, his wife and sons. Helen, the proprieter left welcoming cake and fizz and we had a fabulous week. The hot tub was well used and we bluetoothed our music through its sounds system. The lovely garden allowed the boys to play badminton, volley ball and football using stuff from the games room. There was a table football game and big tv's in both social rooms which meant the boys could get their fill of youtube without irritating the adults. The A595 gets you straight up to the north lakes and we were half an hour from the steam railway which took us to pick up the ferry from Lakeside to Windermere. All in all a fabulous week which included visits to the local beach, local country fair, a climb up Black Coombe which is just across the road, and plenty available Board games in the evening.

Amazing experience, would definitely return
Me and 9 of my friends stayed at the house travelling from York. The owner, Helen, was very helpful with directions and any other questions or requests we had. The house was very modern and clean when we arrived and all the rooms were lovely. The best part by far was the hot tub which was lovely and easy to control. The beach was only a short walk away and was very quiet and perfect for playing rounders. Overall an amazing holiday and we would love to return again!

Perfect!
We booked this property as a family of 9 for a weekend away in January! On arrival we were greeted by Sarah, who showed us around the property, gave us the keys, told us we could ring her at any point if we needed anything and also handed us a homemade cake, lovely touch! The driveway was spacious, enough for 5/6 cars. The house itself is beautiful inside and surrounding, there are two living rooms perfect for our situation - grandad who watched his old films and the kids who watched Netflix in the other! The rooms each had cupboards, mirrors, bedside lamps and chairs overlooking the lovely views! The kitchen had everything we needed, we loved the fact they had two of everything - kettles, toasters! we?ve stayed in big houses before and considering there can be up to 10 or more of you - one kettle is not enough, but the owners here thought wisely! We took advantage of the dishwasher being so many of us and we dined each night in the conservatory where there was a table fit for all. The utility room has a washer, large freezer and more storage space. The house had an iron and ironing board also! The hot tub outside was the best part! Through the day the views were lovely, we watched the sunset whilst lounging in there! At night we linked our phones to the sound system and played music through the hot tub! I imagine this place would be even more perfect in summer as the outside area is quite large perfect for a bbq! If I had to be awkward the house could do with one more bathroom, being only two I found myself waiting a few times to have a shower! Overall I will definitely be returning and will highly recommend, we had a lovely weekend!!
