RECENT CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Disappointed would be an understatement
If anyone reads my previous reviews, they will be able to attest to the fact that I am very fair, balanced and constructive, so to write this review is actually quite painful for me. In short, I am disappointed I even have to give one star! In February I booked and paid for a cottage for four nights over Easter via Sykes Cottages - paying £1,700 in the process. Holiday was cancelled for obvious reasons, and refund requested on 26th March. Got a couple of holding e-mails and then nothing since 24th April. Chased twice and heard nothing back so rang them today... After being on hold for an hour, I spoke to someone who said that they have now checked and that it was bad news...the owner (who had received £1,300 of my money) had refused to refund any money and were unwilling for me to enter into any correspondence with them. Sykes offered me a credit note for £400...despite the fact that I'm clearly never going to use them again. Clearly I?m disappointed with Sykes Cottages, but the owner had the opportunity to do the right thing and chose not to...they have taken £1,300 of my money, for a holiday that didn?t happen and have refused to either refund (or any kind of credit note) or speak to me to discuss. Frankly disgusting behaviour that these owners would use the current situation as an opportunity to profiteer at my expense. The whole thing leaves a really bad taste in the mouth, and me with no option in terms of the £1,700 to pursue a refund via other options. I appreciate that these are unprecedented times, but adversity is a great teacher about the true values of a company and people in general...in the case here about Sykes and more pertinently the owners you would be dealing with here, it has taught me to never trust or consider using them again
