This simple and moving cemetery is the final resting place for Americans killed in World War II while serving in the UK. The site of 30 acres was donated by the University of Cambridge. Over 3800 Americans are buried here, and the Wall of the Missing at the entrance lists the names of over 5000 more whose bodies were never recovered or identified. There is a small chapel on the site.

The Bishop's Palace in Ely was built in the late 15th century. The building consists of two wings joined by a central hall. In the early 16th century, a 100-foot long gallery was added. Look for the coat of arms of the A family above the second story canopy. This was added as a tribute to Bishop Alcock, who had the palace built. In the garden is the oldest plane tree in England, planted by Bishop Gunning more than 300 years ago.

Emmanuel College was founded in 1584, but most of the college buildings give off a neo-classical air, the result of remodelling by James Essex between 1769-1775. However, pride of place must go to the chapel, designed by Sir Christopher Wren in 1677.

One of the oldest of the colleges that make up Cambridge University. Founded in 1348 as Gonville Hall, the college was refounded in 1558 as Gonville and Caius College. The founder was John Caius, physician to three Tudor monarchs. The college is divided into two sections, separated by the River Cam. The oldest section is Gonville Court built in the 14th century, and heavily remodelled in the 18th. The Master's Hall is built upon a small 15th-century house, greatly extended over the centuries.
