North York Moors Self Catering cottage, Preacher's Rest, Grosmont, sleeps 5

Preachers Rest is in the small village of Grosmont, North Yorkshire which is on the North Yorkshire Moors railway line. The village is a five minute walk from the cottage where there is a friendly pub and few shops. The cottage was very clean with all amenities. Unfortunately we hadn?t realised that the walk back from the village is up a very steep hill, which two of our party found very challenging! There are several steps up to the cottage, the single bedroom is on the the ground floor with a few steps up to the other bedrooms which are on the first landing with the sitting and dining area up a rather narrow curved staircase to the second floor. The bedrooms are all on the small side, the single room is more like a box room, there is very little space in the twin bedroom, not really big enough for two adults, the bath in this bedroom is too small for an adult! The dining area has a large table with old church pews for sitting, due to COVID all cushions had been removed, so the pews were very uncomfortable to sit on for any length of time, we had to bring pillows up to sit on! According to government guidelines cushions can be used and covers washed every seven days. WIFI was very intermittent for most of the five days, so Netflix wasn?t available and Freeview channels were also intermittent due to pixelation. This is a lovely cottage but not suitable for those with limited mobility, an older person who may have difficulty with stairs or heart problems. We all felt that the rental price of £800 for five days was rather expensive, we will not be returning to Preachers Rest.
