Comfortable cottage in a quiet village Situated in a quiet country village with an friendly pub (The Horseshoe) serving excellent meals (note at this time of year the pub seems to be closed on Monday and Tuesdays). We had a warm welcome from the cottage owners, with a tray of home made cakes and tea/coffee. Stable cottage is cosy and warm although a larger sofa would be more comfortable. There was everything for a self catering holiday in the cottage and there is a large upright freezer in the shed next door, so if you want to take frozen food from home it is ideal. A walk down to the railway station provided lovely views but beware it is very steep coming back. If you are not a vegetarian, try to find Glaves butchers in Brompton by Sawden - excellent fresh meat and pies. We did most of our grocery shopping at Lidl in Pickering but there are also local markets worh a visit (we visited Northalerton on the way to Levisham and picked up fresh fruit/veg and bread from there.Hope everyone enjoys the area as much as we did. Good location Very small cottage in a nice location. It includes everything you need to enjoy your holiday. Bath was a bonus after those long walks.
The cottage is not owned by Skye cottages but lilac cottages, Levisham, just google and you can see all 4 cottages which are available.

We had a fantastic stay, and the owner was super from start to finish. The village of Levisham is stunning, and the food and welcome at the pub made us feel right at home. Would not hesitate to recommend this holiday to anyone. Mrs Swaby 2015-09-14

Four Star cottage A semi-detached cottage that once was a stable but now is a 4* cottage on the owner's arable and livestock farm. This cottage is in the very heart of Levisham an very very pretty village where you can walk down the main road and not get run over be it midnight or mid-day! It is open plan with fitted kitchen, dining area and sitting area with stairs that open into the twin bed bedroom. Bathroom with bath with a shower over it, WC and wash basin. It has storage heaters for those chilly nights when you don't want to go out and an electric oven with a hob, microwave, fridge, TV, CD player/radio with all fuel and power included in the rent. There is a walled garden with furniture and you are allowed up to TWO well behaved dogs (+?15 each). There is a dog friendly pub just 2 min. walk from the door, but shops etc are about 6 miles away in Pickering.
When I stopped there an Officer from the Tourist Board visited to inspect the property and gave it 4 Stars - that shows how good the accommodation is.
Places to visit are:- Thornton le Dale, this must be the prettiest village in the whole of North Yorkshire - Hutton le Hole to go to the Rydale Folk Museum -Pickering is a vibrant market town with an open-air market every Monday - Goathland, better know as "Aidensfield" from the ITV series 'Heartbeat' - don't miss going to Whitby and make sure you take a trip on the "Mary Ann Hepworth" the ex Whitby Lifeboat that saved over 200 lives.
Levisham is a wonderful place to stay if you enjoy walking as there are many walks right from the door and I would recommend this cottage to anyone and everyone. oldmotherriley 2015-07-13
