How is this allowed ? Its shocking.
The photos online certainly do not show an accurate side of this place. My wife has asthma and the damp is through and through. £1400 to stay here for 2 weeks and we couldn't stay at all, mould and damp all over, owners mail scattered, worn and dirty furniture the list goes on and the smell is foul. I think its great if you wish to see what an 1800's style of living is, needs ALOT of work.

Dirty
OMG!!!!!!!! What a horrible place to stay damp and module in 2 of the bedrooms ie twin room and the double without the en-suite that the owner knows about btw. The twin that my partner and I slept in had stains and hairs in the beds, we had to go and buy new bedding put old in the wardrobe which also smelt of damp. Cobwebs throughout the room thick with dust. The double that my parents slept in had 4 patches of damp on the roof and the wall paper was coming off it was that bad. In the kitchen 1 ring on the hob doesn't work. Do not use the grill aswell as you will need to have back door wide open because of the smoke. The sofas in the livingroom need to be dumped as they are well passed it and look very dirty could not sit on them. PLEASE LOOK ELSEWHERE !!!!!!!

Brilliant base for doing what you want
We had 9 people over 3 generations staying so the base needed to offer a range of options to entertain ourselves. The house itself is a well preserved 17th century cottage with loads of interesting artwork on the walls. Plenty of space for all but the dining room was our favourite for chilling out with food and drink and the recounting of family tales. Bedrooms were spacious and comfy. For us oldies the walk into Clapham was a good 30/40 minute stroll through beautiful countryside and we were surprised by the sheer number of birds of prey hovering over the fields. Plenty of walks/rides available to those who wanted more taxing exercise. Ingleborough Caves, only a 10 minute walk from Clapham, are well worth a visit. Got to mention the New Inn for the quality of it's food. Further afield both Settle and Kirkby Lonsdale are within easy driving distance and well worth a day out. Finally, I wouldn't normally give a free advert to a shop but if you're looking for an affordable quirky present to take home there's a new Antique shop open in Clapham, so new it's not even got a name yet, with prices half of those in Settle and Kirkby Lonsdale. I came home with 2 cracking bargains. All in all a great house and location.
