Enjoyable stay
Stayed here for a quick weekend . Great stay with everything you need. Location is a1. Top floor bedroom in summer I would imagine is fantastic with the roof terrace and view. It's not 5 star by any stretch but neither does it claim to be. Saying that it was nothing like some of the reviews I read - it exceeded my expectations. Would I return yes, lovely quirky spot

Not for winter
We visited in the winter, outside temperature of 1-5C, the house I think had been empty before our visit and was very cold. Slept in PJs, jumper & socks underneath the duvet and blanket provided and was still cold. By the end of the week, having had two fires burning continuously and the outside temperature reaching 8C the house was warmed through. Expect to spend an extra ?100 for the week if the weather is cold. This house has been listed with Sykes as a holiday home for some years and previous comments in the guest book show the owners are aware.

GREAT LOCATION BUT A BIT TIRED
This house is in a great location however is let down by the fact that it is very tired looking and in need of decorating as it is clear that this hasnt been done for some time.

Great location but a bit tired looking
This holiday cottage was in a lovely area. On the top of the west cliff and it was near pubs and restaurants. We couldn't fault the place for its cleanliness. Everything was spotless. This cottage isn't for everyone though. If you struggle with stairs this isn't the place for you. As it's over 5 floors. The climb to the top is worth it though as the view of the abbey is amazing. My dog lovely running up and down the stairs. The properties decor was quite poor. It was very tired looking with loads of patches just touched up so it looked really messy. Plus there was paint splashed and daubed about in on loads of places it shouldn't be. I do think that if they got a professional decorator in and redid all the rooms it would be lovely. Also they need to replace the mattress in the rooms on the third and fifth floor as they were really lumpy and you could feel the beds slats. They could also do with TVs in all the bedrooms. The TV in the living room was too small and you couldn't see it from all the sofas. Plus the sky box they had didn't let you watch loads of programmes that are on Freeview. Parking was a bit of a problem as they were doing loads of road works so no on street parking and he garage was way too small for most cars. We had to pay ?8 a day to park in the car park behind the house. Also when the owner said we needed towels I thought he meant just bath towels. But they didn't have hand towels or cloths for the kitchen. They also didn't have oven gloves. So bring them with you. Apart from that the kitchen was well equipped. The bedroom on the 4th floor is set up for children. Which is nice if you have kids but we had 3 adults sleeping here but there wasn't any hanging space for them as it was setup for hanging kids clothes. But with all said and done this was a good property for the money and the 5th floor bedroom with the balcony was lovely. I would recommend this property if you have a dog and want to be close to the beach and local amenities!

Perfect location.
We like to stay near to shops, pubs etc and this certainly delivered- only 100 yards from a narrow and quiet road to the harbour. Newsagent three mins walk pleased my husband. Five minutes to the harbour, bus station etc etc. The pictures of the kitchen on the website don't do it justice. It was very well equipped and cosier than it looks. The lounge is lovely, very comfortable with a great fire. The whole house is full of quirky pictures and features,we noticed something new every day. Although we're not in our prime (67/73) we found the stairs manageable ,though we thought hard about what to take up to the fifth floor bedroom at night ! Good mind training though. But the climb was worth it for the view,it was a shame that it was too cold to sit in the terrace even though it was very mild for December. We absolutely loved our week there. PS very good wifi too.
