Good but...
Pluses: The cottage was clean and tidy on arrival, with a complimentary bottle of wine and walnut cake. Good heating, with plenty of hot water. Much of the furniture and equipment was quite new The living area, kitchen and main bedroom were well designed and comfortable. Situated in a pleasant village with a good pub within easy walking distance. Plenty to see and do in the area. Minuses: A child not paying attention would risk a bang from the low beams in the upstairs bedroom and toilet. The Wi-fi connection to the cottage itself was not working for the majority of our stay; apparently there have been ongoing problems with the internet connection. The owner is erecting a new building adjacent to the cottage and the builders start work at 8.00am. Vehicles and machinery prevent access to the parking space next to the cottage and are not particularly conducive to enjoyment of the patio area. General: No warning about the building work (or WiFi) until a couple of days before arrival when we telephoned about the key, if we'd known earlier we would have chosen somewhere else. If either of these things would be a concern, it might be worth checking the position before booking. Apart from that Orchard Cottage provides a good base for an enjoyable holiday.
