Lovely Old Cottage only 100m from Middleham Castle
Stayed here for a week end Sept/Early Oct and absolutely loved the Cottage. It is very well appointed with lots of thoughtful touches like torches at the side of each bed, the fire laid on your arrival and the milk and biscuits left for a welcome pack. Parking for the first time is a bit of a shuffle but after that you get the hang of the right line to take and can easily get it spot on. We had no problem driving out down the road. Cottage was always very warm as there is a large storage heater in the lounge, but we did light the stove every night so had to buy some more kindling from the local store. Cosy lounge with Freeview TV. We found the Wi-Fi a bit erratic, OK for emails on holiday but if you were looking to do any online work while staying it could be a challenge. Beds very comfy, worth taking a few extra coat hangers if you do not travel light! Bathroom and shower very well equipped with lots of hot water. Kitchen very good but take an ice tray if you like ice in your G&T! For us the great attraction was the proximity of the Castle, which is one of our personal favourite places because of its association with King Richard III. There are lots of nice walks locally and of course the famous Leyburn Shawl only 2 miles away. Jervaulx Abbey is only a few miles in the other direction, one of our favourite spots in the Dales with its serene setting. We ate at the King Richard III which is just down the little passageway at the side of the Cottage. Food and atmosphere is very good, we had no bother with late night noise. Local Store is quite well stocked but Leyburn has a large supermarket if more variety is needed. Seeing the racehorses going up the main street on their way to the Gallops is quite exciting! We would heartily recommend this Cottage both for its location and high standards of comfort, all in a very historic setting in the lovely Yorkshire Dales.

Sweet well equipped cottage
We are just travelling back south from a week away staying in this cottage and can?t rate it highly enough. Warm and welcoming with great amenities, it had everything we could possibly want. Certainly recommend.

Home Away From Home
This is the 3rd long stay I?ve had the pleasure of doing at Stonecroft and as always it's hard to return back to reality. The cottage is like a second home...all the comforts, excellent location to anything needed and hosts that keep the cottage in excellent standing. I?d highly recommend staying there anytime. The only season I?ve missed so far is the fall. It's a perfect place to stay and enjoy. Thanks.

Absolutely loved it!!
Stone croft cottage is in a lovely village with great pubs, lovely food and lots of racehorses! We spent a great week at the cottage. It is well set out, lovely and homely but with all the mod cons you need. The log fire was great and we loved the kitchen, the beds had crisp white linen on and were really comfortable. We took our dog Nelson and he loved laying by the fire in the evenings. The bathroom is modern with a big bath with shower over. The Tea, coffee, milk and biscuits were a welcome treat when we arrived and the fire was prepared ready for lighting. We loved everything about the cottage and also the village, Andy & Jayne made booking easy and we will definitely be returning to stonecroft cottage. Loved it !! Thanks Andy & Jayne x

traditional character cottage
The cottage was full of character and was very well equipped with everything needed. It had a very nice modern bathroom which looked to be recently installed. There was a stove which was set ready for use but despite the weather not being very good the cottage was still cosy enough not to need it . There was also the nice touch of milk, t bags and biscuits supplied for a cuppa as soon as we arrived. The market square with a good choice of restaurants and tea rooms was just a 2 minute walk down a lane at the side of the cottage. The parking area at the cottage was quite tight and we were advised not to drive on down the lane as the bottom of the car might hit the ground. We did try as it would have been difficult otherwise and managed o.k but it might depend on type of car. Also a name sign outside would have been good as we were not sure if we were at the right property.
