Ideal for a proper rest and recuperation!
What a great location, the barn is set in a peaceful landscape with beautiful views over the valley, a real treat just to walk or run out into open fields and along the riverside from the doorstep, so relaxing. And within short drives there is so much to see, such as the stunning Cornish villages of Boscastle and Port Isaac and amazing beaches like Polzeath, which we loved.
Westhayes was really comfortable and incredibly clean, you wouldn?t imagine dogs had even been allowed in the house! I couldn?t fault this place it was spotless. Loads of towels too and the most comfortable beds I have slept in away from home, we all got a really proper rest. The kitchen was super-equipped, and the little touches were really appreciated like the fresh flowers around the house, and a range of DVDs for all tastes! And that's of course without mentioning the stunning swimming pool which kept our teenagers very happy!

Not quite as expected
Arrived to find dehumidifier on full blast - always a worry - then found 2 bathrooms smelling heavily of damp, we had to leave windows & doors open with fans on for 2 days to air out - not great.
Then found property does NOT have wi-fi as advertised, you have to go into a shed like room in the garden of the next holiday cottage to get any signal at all (you get none actually in the property) This room was mouldy, dirty, smelly & covered in dead flies etc, it had not been cleaned in weeks - disappointing.
As there is only a freeview TV, no wi-fi means no use of any tablets for Netflix, sky, email etc, so a tricky week if you have teenagers with you!
The property also had approximately 6 blown window casements, & playing pool was fun as all pockets were ripped so you had to catch the balls as you potted them so they did not bounce on the floor tiles!
There is also a minimum charge of £5 for the use of the sauna, which is not mentioned anywhere!
To be fair the pool area & grounds down to & along the river were first class, the best we have ever stayed in, but I did not feel this property was worth £1648 for the week.
I lodged a complaint on my first full day, but the owners refused any form of compensation for the damp, mould or mis-advertisement of wi-fi - VERY disappointing as I was asking a tiny % back as compensation, not being silly & asking for a 50% refund or anything.
For that reason alone I would not return.
