Very good and tranquil location. Lodge something else!
Stayed over a ten day period mid June at 5, Water?s Edge The location was good, peaceful and tranquil. The lodge was something else. There were some issues with the maintenance of the amenities of the lodge, all reported to the local rep. but got the impression that they were paying lip service. We found out on the second day of our stay that the dishwasher was not heating the water so the dishes and saucepans were not getting cleaned. Informed the rep about this, but later noted that previous reviews as far back in March 2019 also reported the dishwasher shortcomings. We were totally disappointed with the cleanliness of the place. The supervisor of the Housekeeping Department has failed to do the basic quality checks: a. Oven not cleaned in a long while. Burnt-on food on racks and bottom of oven. Glass front disgustingly dirty. b. No oven gloves supplied. c. Washing machine: had remnants of the last visitors? washings still in the machine. d. Tumble dryer: filter not cleaned. Filter choked with lint with consequent fire hazard. e. Windows were not cleaned and had handprints from previous clients. The lodge is marketed as ?luxury?. Check out the photos. a. Dining chairs: very basic. Uncomfortable to sit on. b. The two sofas seen better days c. Outside decking area: chairs extremely uncomfortable. d. Hot tub: basic unit and required manually adjusting the nozzles to open and / or shut. No information about this so assumed that hot tub was not working as the jets were feeble at best but found out five days later from maintenance person the way to operate the system. When he demonstrated the procedure one of the nozzles came away in his hand. He looked surprised and managed to screw it back in but told me that this should not happen and would be taken care of later. One should not have to lodge a complaint with the Management about the above. These are basic items that should have been checked and made good prior to the client?s arrival. Especially as this lodge is being marked as ?Exceptional? and ?Luxurious?.
