St Clederus church was begun in the 12th century and completely rebuilt in 1865. The most interesting historic feature is a simple Norman font with rope band decoration on the stem. There are also three re-used Norman capitals in the south arcade. A trail leads from the church to St Clether's Holy Well.

St Columba's Church is dedicated to the 5th-century 'Virgin of Cornwall', who was martyred a few miles away. In the churchyard stands an early Christian wayside cross, and inside the church are excellent 16th and 17th-century memorial brasses to the Arundell family.

St Endelienta's Church is rare - almost unique - in that it is a collegiate church, existing some 475 years after collegiate churches were officially abolished. In the sanctuary is a memorial to Poet Laureate Sir John Betjeman, who worshipped here. Look for 15th-century carved bench ends and ornately carved 17th-century chairs.

St Enodocs stands in isolated splendour amid sand dunes, looking over Daymer Bay. It may stand on the site of a hermitage established by St Enodoc in the 6th century. In the porch stands a Celtic wayside cross, and poet Sir John Betjeman is buried in the churchyard.

Now here's a church with a history! The parish church of St Germans is dedicated to St Germanus of Auxerre (AD 380-448), and the first church on the site is thought to have been founded following a visit by St Germanus here around the year AD 430. The saint also founded a religious settlement that eventually became an Augustinian priory.

St Ia's Church dates to the early 15th century, though it has only been the parish church of St Ives since 1826. A medieval cross stands outside the tower, and inside the church are a wealth of carved 15th-century roof bosses, figures of angels, and carved bench ends, plus a sculpture by Dame Barbara Hepworth in memory of her son.

At the entrance to Smeaton's Pier stands this delightful little medieval chapel, traditionally used by the fishermen of St Ives. The chapel now houses a collection of model fishing boats and a memorial to fishermen lost at sea.

St Nicholas Chapel dates to at least the 15th century and served the sailors of St Ives. The chapel was later used as a lookout station for both smugglers and the revenue men trying to stop them. It was rescued from demolition in 1904 and restored.

St Juliot's medieval church boasts links to author Thomas Hardy, who restored the church from 1870 and met his first wife here. There are memorials to Hardy and his wife inside the church and in the churchyard are two ancient Celtic wayside crosses.
