Sleeping four people in two bedrooms, this end terraced cottage in Newlyn in Cornwall is an ideal Cornish base.

Mermaid Cottage is a cosy end terraced cottage just a moment’s stroll from the beach, opposite the art gallery in Newlyn. There are two double bedrooms, and a bathroom with bath, shower over, basin and WC. The fitted kitchen has a breakfast area, while the sitting room has an electric fire and leads to the dining room. Outside is a small enclosed courtyard, and parking is available in the public car park 100 yards away. With St Michael’s Mount and Newlyn on the doorstep, and the rest of the area within easy reach, Mermaid Cottage makes a wonderful Cornish base.

Lovely little cottage.
Lovely, cosy little cottage with everything in it my sister and I could?ve needed. Very close to shops, eateries, a pharmacy and bus stops. Only steps away from the sea and promenade walk to Penzance. Fabulous sea view out of the main bedroom window. Beds are comfortable with plenty of bedding and pillows. The reason I have only given it 3 stars is twofold. First and foremost, there is no WiFi. Yes, I know we coped without it in the past but we also coped without cars and buses! Unfortunately, Wifi is the thing everyone is using today: for information, communication etc. We were told we could get the password from the Art Gallery very near to the cottage, which we did but it did not work. Secondly, the cottage desperately needs decorating and updating. It?s a bit gloomy with the dark furniture and smelled very musty despite us having windows and doors open a lot. None of this, however, spoiled our holiday.

Quirky cosy cottage in need of some updating, great location for exploring the area
Quirky cosy cottage, has a lovely feel to it but in need of updating especially kitchen and bathroom. Very comfy bed and views over the sea from the bedroom. Had a problem with the hot water but the owners resolved this as soon as they could, these things happen. Cottage as Also in need of a deep clean. Location perfect for exploring the area and lovely to step out of the front door and be on the beach for dog walks. Some traffic noise.

We particularly liked the location of Mermaid Cottage and its very distinct style it feels more like someones home rather than a holiday cottage.
