Okay but needs some tlc and attention to detail and cleanliness
See pictures. Basically this was what I have just written in the guest book. There are issues here but mostly needs a good clean. Things obviously not checked or cleaned properly before our arrival

In need of a good clean and TLC
2020 family holiday to Porthtowan, superb location in which we have visited many times. Previous reviews worried me about cleanliness so I contacted Sykes and received the standard Covid response advising of extra cleaning etc and different times we could access the property. The cleaning was very poor, in desperate need of a deep clean. We soon got into the habit of washing kitchen items before using. Considering the property has been empty for many months and due to Covid there is no excuse for the grubbiness we encountered. I don't think the dishwasher filter has been cleaned, the smell from the hover made me retch! Needless to say I anti backed the whole house before we went in. Beds were comfy, curtains very very thin, if you are used to dark or black out curtains take an eye mask. Towels were tiny and thin.. just about covered my 10 year old so would recommend taking your own. Windows I doubt have been cleaned in years (although that did help on the sunny early mornings with thin curtains) The house next door is being renovated with scaffolding up (17 July 2020) This didn't impact us but FYI. Plus points.. plenty of hot water, super location, 3 mins walk to beach. However much better properties available at a similar cost therefor I would not recommend, such a shame as could be lovely but really needs a clean and TLC.. eg: All pictures wonky, kitchen cupboards need fixing, bathroom light pulls black with dirt, no WIfi in annex (Needs a booster)

Disappointed
We as a family have been going to Cornwall for 20 years and not had a bad holiday until this one. So disappointed, house well equipped but could do with a good clean. The toilet needs fixing. One bedroom definitely needs a new mattress. The washing machine leaks only one side of toaster works had to clean cooker. The annexe toilet leaks, the water in sink comes out brown. The only pub closed for renovations, chip shop closed. Beach all stones. Won?t be going there again

Well equipped but some faults
Stones throw is very well equipped but there are some problems the bedroom to the right of stairs needs a new mattress the one that is on is so soft it feels like the springs have gone no good for anybody with a bad back.you also have to be careful when flushing the toilet if you push the flush button in a little bit to far the tank won?t stop filling. In the kitchen the lift up cupboard doors won?t stop up so if you are putting anything in you have to use one hand to hold door open.At the end of the day we enjoyed our stay in porthtowan it will be better when the unicorn pub reopens. This holiday cost almost £1500 for a week and for that money I expected a bit better property
